Fleas Don'tStop atOne Room.

Fleas breed faster than most people realize — a single female lays up to 50 eggs per day. By the time you see fleas jumping, there are hundreds of eggs and larvae in your carpets, furniture, and flooring. Broadway Pest eliminates the full lifecycle with pet-safe treatments and targeted follow-up timed around the breeding cycle.

A visible flea problem means the infestation is already deep. For every adult flea you see, there are approximately 100 eggs, larvae, and pupae in your environment.

The Threat

What you're
actually dealing with.

🥚
The Lifecycle Problem
Adult fleas are only 5% of a flea population. The other 95% — eggs, larvae, and pupae — are in your carpets, bedding, and floor cracks. Most consumer treatments kill adults only, leaving the next generation to hatch 2–3 weeks later. Effective treatment requires targeting all lifecycle stages simultaneously.
NYC
Urban Flea Pressure
NYC apartments, with shared hallways, laundry rooms, and elevator buildings, allow fleas to spread between units even without pets. Feral cats in building basements and courtyards are a common introduction vector. A flea infestation in a ground-floor unit can migrate upward through utility chases within days.
🏥
Health & Allergy Risk
Flea bites cause allergic dermatitis in sensitive individuals and pets. Fleas are vectors for murine typhus — a bacterial disease found in NYC's rat flea population. Cat scratch disease can also be transmitted through flea feces. Treatment is a health matter, not just a comfort one.
Our Protocol

How we
eliminate it.

Every Broadway Pest treatment follows a documented protocol — assessment first, treatment second, follow-up third. No guesswork, no generic spraying.

  • 01
    Pre-treatment preparation guidance
We provide a preparation checklist before treatment — vacuuming, washing bedding, clearing floors. Proper prep doubles treatment effectiveness. We walk you through it, you don't have to guess.
  • 02
    Adulticide + IGR combination
Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) prevents eggs and larvae from developing into reproducing adults, breaking the breeding cycle. Combined with adulticide for immediate knockdown, this is the only protocol that produces lasting results.
  • 03
    Treatment timed to the lifecycle
Flea pupae are pesticide-resistant. We schedule follow-up visits at 14 and 28 days — timed around when pupae hatch into adults. This catches the next generation before it can reproduce.
  • 04
    Pet re-entry guidance
We advise on when pets can safely return to treated areas and coordinate with your veterinarian's flea treatment schedule. Human and pet treatment must happen simultaneously to prevent re-infestation.

Operational Protocol

How we execute.

01
Assessment
Identify infestation zones, entry vectors, and severity. Check all rooms, not just where activity is visible.
02
Preparation
Client prep checklist issued. Vacuuming and washing before treatment increases efficacy significantly.
03
Full-home treatment
Adulticide + IGR applied to all carpet, furniture, flooring, and baseboards. Pet sleeping areas treated separately.
04
Follow-up at 14 & 28 days
Two scheduled follow-ups timed to the lifecycle to catch hatching pupae before they reproduce.
Service Journey

What to expect
start to finish.

No guesswork. Here's exactly how our flea program works — what you do before we arrive, what happens during the service visit, and what to expect after we leave.

Phase 01

Before We Arrive

  • Vacuum all carpeted areas, upholstered furniture, and pet resting areas thoroughly the day before service — this stimulates pupae to emerge and makes treatment more effective
  • Wash all pet bedding on high heat and seal it in plastic bags before the technician arrives
  • Remove all humans and pets from the premises for at least 4 hours after treatment
  • Treat your pets with a veterinarian-approved flea product on the same day as the home service — this breaks the cycle at the animal host
Phase 02

During Service

  • Full inspection to assess infestation level and identify primary zones: carpets, furniture, pet bedding areas, baseboards
  • IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) applied throughout carpeted areas to prevent pupae from developing into reproducing adults
  • Residual adulticide applied to all carpet surfaces, upholstery bases, and along baseboards
  • Crawl spaces and sub-floor areas treated if required — fleas often harbor in inaccessible areas
  • Service documentation created with all products applied and re-entry time
Phase 03

After We Leave

  • Do not vacuum for 7–10 days after treatment — this allows the residual to remain active
  • Flea activity will continue for up to 2 weeks as residual pupae emerge and contact the treated surface
  • Continue treating pets with veterinarian-approved flea control for at least 3 months — reinfestation comes from the pet, not the environment
  • Follow-up inspection scheduled at 2–3 weeks; a second treatment may be required for severe infestations
